Coogee Island Swim Wrap - Up

The weather gods well and truly blessed us on Sunday for near-perfect conditions for the Coogee island swim. You couldn't ask for more at this time of year: a blue-bird, sunny 29C, with the ocean clean and 18C, and the lightest winds we've had in weeks.

The IRB area got to a cracking start at 4.45am, with two IRBs ready for action by 5.15am. A big thanks goes to Rob Illidge and the whole IRB area for your assistance on the day, and to the many others who helped prepare and service engines prior to the event.

The beach setup was made so much easier this year with the assistance of our medal-winning boat crew. By 6.30am, the beach setup was complete: the First Aid team were briefed and prepared for all eventualities; our newest Bronze squad were ready at the registration tables; our water safety team donned the fluoro and was ready to hit the water.

At final count we had 1443 swimmers hit the water and only a couple minor first aids.

A big thank-you to everyone who volunteered on the day. The event was a big success and one the whole Club can be proud of.
