Terrigal IRB racing

For our final carnival the Coogee Hammers traveled up to Terrigal. Being north facing, Terrigal never really has much swell, but with a southerly swell of under half a meter, it made for lake like conditions that greeted us. We had decided earlier that this carnival was to allow new members of the team some competition experience. Additionally an injury to Will Bao saw our IRB Vice Captain, Rob Illidge step in to save the day. All it all it was a very good carnival. We made two finals (Novice mass rescue and 35+ tube race) and two semi finals, which was a great result (especially as two of our rookies, Rob and Andrew featured in these races). It has been a very good first year of IRB racing, running on a reasonably low budget (compared to other clubs) we managed to get a team of around 10 to 5 carnivals, and started to consistently make second rounds. Our best finish was 5th in a final. We are all very excited about next year and will be running a recruitment and fund raising drive throughout the year. Onwards and upwards for the Coogee Hammerheads.
